Get Halloween Costume Ideas For Couples

Some of us may not be very creative when it comes to costumes and this is why Halloween costume ideas for couples are designed.  It is possible to come up with great Halloween costumes without spending too much or investing too much time.  If you know how to sew, it will be a plus for you, since you can simply create your own costume using your clothes with a few adjustments. There may be limitless ideas but this fact is problematic too because it becomes difficult to come up with a final decision.

There has to be a subject about best couple Halloween costumes.  The first step in knowing which costume you can wear is to first decide on which you both find interesting.  Women, with their femininity would like to wear something pretty and charming while men want what is opposite than that. Or, a man would want something masculine like a matador and a bull. What you have to do after agreeing on a particular theme, is to produce the perfect pair. Putting on a little act would also help you feel your "borrowed" identity.

Halloween costume ideas for couples would range from conventional to unique. Showbiz couples are some of the most popular choices but it doesn't have to be the present Hollywood stars.  The more people recognize the character that you are imitating, the better it would be.  If you see someone sporting a costume with a blond hair, mole and bright red lipstick, you instantly know its Marilyn Monroe, while the one with a unique hairstyle and a sense of fashion that is stylish is Elvis Presley. The latest unfortunate event of Michael Jackson's death will be something that will make a Michael Jackson costume popular and easy to spot. Too much hype would not be a great idea if you are imitating someone. Just concentrate on finding out what their mark is.

Coming up with a 60's costume is a bit simple to figure out. To look the part, all you need are a few basics like ragged and tattered leather vests, knee-high fringed moccasins, jeans and a paisley or floral shirt which you can easily get from a thrift store or Goodwill.  In fictional themes, it's all in the make-up. If you sport wedding clothes and apply pale make up with sunken eyes, voila! instant zombie bride and groom.  The best couple Halloween costumes can be as such.

It may need some work to come up with a Halloween costume that has a peculiar theme. Some costumes needs to be created since they may not be available in any costume store, like a spoon and fork.  The basic materials that you will need are: cardboard boxes, paint and paint brushes.  The good thing about making your own costumes is that it saves you a lot of money. Custom-made costumes such as the spoon and fork, bacon and egg, moon and star will not cost you more than ten dollars to create.  However, if you would prefer a more intricate one, then it can cost you more.

Laser Hair Removal Puts an End to Wax Forever

Laser hair removal has proven to be a very popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure and is a non-invasive, convenient way to permanently reduce unwanted facial and/or body hair. Short-term hair loss will occur in most patients with laser hair removal, but the degree of long-term hair reduction will vary among patients. Permanent hair loss occurs most often in dark hair, which has a high concentration of melanin whereas gray, white and blonde hair would need to be re-treated to maintain hair loss. This also will vary depending on the area being treated.

The Procedure

Laser hair removal is performed using a technology called Intense Pulsed Light or IPL. In this procedure, a handheld device is used that emits pulses of light that are able to effectively target hair follicles in their growth phase, damaging or destroying the follicles, thus preventing re-growth.

The process takes from several minutes to several hours, depending on the area of the body involved. The laser energy passes through the patient's skin, being absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle. A percentage of the follicles are instantaneously and permanently disabled with each treatment. In most cases, no anesthesia is necessary.

The Benefits

· A non-invasive, gentle technique that eliminates undesirable hair from all parts of the body

· Leaves skin looking smoother and silkier

· Treats larger areas effectively because it removes more than one hair at a time.

· Minimal discomfort

· Replaces waxing, electrolysis and razors

· Immediate return to normal activities

Other Considerations

· It could be ongoing process that requires multiple sessions

· Sometimes there is a temporary slight reddening of the skin or localized swelling

· May have to use specially formulated skin care products and/or a prescribed skin care regimen. Sunscreen is recommended for any treated areas exposed to the sun.

· Patients with darker pigmentation may not respond well

· Blonde, white or gray hairs are less responsive to laser treatments and sometimes cannot be treated

Laser hair removal works best when the hair is one to two millimeters in length. Patients cannot tan prior or during hair removal treatment. You may not wax but shaving in between is permitted if it's necessary.

If you would like to learn more about how laser hair removal can put an end to all that shaving and waxing, please visit the website of cosmetic surgeon Dr. David A. Bray, Sr., serving patients in the Los Angeles area.

Planning For Your Wedding Day Hair

One of the things that you will surely want for your wedding is great hair. The right hairstyle will be the perfect complement to your wedding gown, and it will help you to feel beautiful all day. When you become engaged, there are a few things that you should do to plan for your wedding day hair.

You may wish to formulate a long term plan with your hairstylist as far as a year before your wedding. This is not to say that you should have trial runs to come up with your exact hairstyle this far in advance. It is more about thinking in general terms what options you would like to have, and what you will need to do to get there.

If your hair is short to medium length, you may want to consider letting it grow out. If there is any chance that you will want to wear your hair in an updo for your wedding, this will give you the most flexibility in choosing a style. Another thing to consider is whether you may want to grow out your bangs. With many formal hairstyles, long sideswept bangs are going to look more sophisticated and elegant than short straight ones.

Color and cut are also going to be important factors to plan for. If you have been coloring your hair yourself with hit or miss results, in the months leading up to your wedding, have it professionally colored. You want to make sure that you do not have any pre-wedding color disasters with home hair color, and this will also allow your stylist time to gradually make any color corrections that may be needed. Plan to have your color freshened up a couple of weeks before your wedding day. If you typically get highlights only on the top layers of your hair, also have them done underneath if you will be wearing your hair up.

Your haircut is another thing that you should think about well before your wedding date. Very layered haircuts may be great for everyday life, but can pose a problem for styling on the day of your wedding. You may find that all of those loose layers can be very messy when you are trying to form them into a more defined style for a formal event. To keep all of your options open to you, talk to your hairstylist about keeping layers to a minimum.

Another thing to think about when it comes to your wedding hair is how it will work with your headpiece. You have the option of choosing the headpiece based on the hairstyle that you want, or designing a hairstyle around your favorite hair jewelry. For instance, if you know that you want to wear you hair mostly loose, then a choose a piece of hair bridal jewelry such as a dainty pearl headband. On the other hand if you have fallen in love with a set of hairpins, then you will know that some sort of updo is needed to anchor them.

You wedding jewelry is something else to think about when it comes time to design your hairstyle. Most brides will want at least the sides of their hair pulled back, both to keep it out of their faces and to show off their earrings. If you also have a fabulous piece to wear on your neck, such as a lovely strand of pearl bridal jewelry, then wearing all of your hair up will showcase it to its' best advantage.

Your wedding hairstyle will definitely help to define your final look on your wedding day. This is why most brides find it helpful to start planning for it well in advance. You will find that with a little preparation, your wedding day will be the ultimate "good hair day"!

For a 2010 wedding, prom, formal, or even just a night on the town with your favourite guy or your gaggle of girlies, here are some hot celebrity trends that are definitely worth a try:

The Side Updo: It seems that crooked is the way to go and this is definitely a plus for us girls trying the looks at home - it means less worrying about the evenness of our updo, and a side updo is so much easier to see in the mirror! So take your favourite updo, and set it off kilter for a new and improved modern look. If you are searching for ideas, try a simple low set side bun, which you can create easily by securing your hair in a side pony at the nape of your neck and twirling into a bun. Add oomph with a ponytail hair extension or glam it up with a jeweled hair comb or sparkly hair pins.

The Braided Updo: The Olsen's, Jessica Alba, and Lauren Conrad are all fans of this updo with a bohemian twist. Any look you choose, whether it a braided half updo with just a crown of braids like this one, or a full red carpet bun wrapped in a beautiful braid you will be sure to have on-trend tresses that will definitely wow a crowd!

The Undone Updo: The biggest trend of all, and can you believe the easiest!! Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, Ashley Olsen and more are all keeping it cool with perfectly undone updos where messy is the motto. Finding Your Best Hairstyle

We see them everywhere; on TV, on magazine covers while we wait in shopping lines, and sometimes,on occasion, on a friend or a stranger. Just seeing a great hairstyle and falling in love with it is only the bare beginnings of creating a whole new you. Before sitting in your stylist's chair and expecting miracles from him or her, let's discuss what you need to take into consideration before those scissors touch a single strand.

First of all, consider your lifestyle. Do you work indoors in an office all day? You can afford to spend the extra time on your look should you desire since there should be nothing working against your hair such as wind or rain. Or are you out in the elements? Perhaps you go to the gym after work and need a style that dries by itself and yet still looks presentable? A precision cut or permanent wave may suit this type as they both would dry stylishly on their own. Longer hair of course should be clipped up in the wind to protect its health as well as its beauty.

Secondly, how much time do you really have to spend in the morning to create your fabulous look on a daily basis. Not how much time you'd like to spend or think you will, yet the harsh reality of how many actual minutes on the ticking clock do you have before you really need to hit the road to work or school? An everyday look should fit into your routine.

Should you only need a few, quick curls, then plugging in the old curling iron every morning will become second nature having it ready for a couple of quick applications. Do you shower in the morning and would rather have a cut that you can just blow dry or flatiron and have it lay right in place? Your style will demand more trips to the salon for trims as any style that has that precision cut to keep it low-maintenance will have to have the style kept "in shape". And this doesn't necessarily mean a short haircut as medium length styles can have blunt lines or textured ends to speed up the styling process having them styled straight or perhaps in a little "flip".

Have a little more time to spend on your do? Perhaps you would like a little more body or curl. Large, loose curls are are the rage now, ranging from gigantic 3-5 vertical curls that are left undisturbed to fall freely during the day to the more time-consuming S-waves. Should you prefer the latter on a regular basis, you should consider a design-wrap perm to lock these defined patterns in and cut your styling time way down. This will be less damaging to your hair in the long run as you won't be applying the direct heat from appliances on a daily basis.

So now you have an idea of time and environment. The next step is the hardest. Your head and facial shapes, as well as your neck structure are all very important things to consider in determining how well you might carry off that cute style you just saw. Unless you are fortunate enough to have a perfect oval face, a well defined jawline, a sleek neck of average length, all of which are well-balanced enabling you to wear short, medium or long styles of any type, you need to face the facts that you probably cannot wear just any hairstyle that you fall in love with.

Brush all your hair back off of your face, clip it or place a headband. What do you see? An oval, a square shape? Heart? Is it oblong? Or Diamond shaped?

Square, Heart and Oblong shapes usually tend to have "high foreheads". These require a part close to the center that allows hair to fall along the temples and covers up the majority of the forehead. Though the best remedy for this situation are bangs, or as they call them abroad, fringe. Bangs cover or break up areas that we would prefer to disguise.

Diamond and Heart shaped faces have very narrow chins and styles that hit about the jawline is best to help "fill in" this weak area. Or a longer style could be worn with layering in this area that may be textured with curls which would also serve the same purpose. However, Square and Oblong shapes have thick, wide jawlines and it's best to draw attention away from this area. These face shapes should not have a hairstyle that widens this area further. Hair should be flat (straight) against the sides of their chins or at least much longer or shorter to draw attention up or down away from the chin or jawline. Remember this can apply to anyone with a double chin or thick throat area as well.

These same rules apply to the top of the face. A short forehead, one who has a hairline that comes down close to the eyebrows, also needs camouflaging. Bangs are an option here. Diamond, Square and Oblong shapes do not want hairstyles that comb back to expose these flaws. It's best to allow hair to fall on the forehead somehow to disguise your less than perfect hairline.

A Diamond or Oblong shaped face needs to be very careful to avoid hairstyles with fullness across the nose and eye level as these styles will only make their face shape appear wider here. Neck length can appear shorter or longer according to your needs, depending on your style and its length. This physical characteristic is often overlooked.

Now to discuss your hair color. Yes, it's something you really need to consider as it can make or break any hairstyle. You can have the best haircut in the world for you, however, if the color is all wrong, it ruins the whole look. For those of you, who already color their hair or are considering it, know these important factors. Black and very dark shades are not just for the young-at-heart, they are for the younger and younger looking crowd only. These unforgiving colors will only harshen the features of anyone who has found themselves with fine lines and wrinkles. Very fair, porcelain skin should steer clear of very light shades as this usually washes them out.

Determine if you are a warm or a cool color person. Yes, it's something else to think about, yet it is a good thing to know not just for hair color, yet for makeup color and clothing colors as well. While some folks are lucky enough to wear either one, some look only good in one or the other.

Look good in pinks, blues, or violets? These make you a "cool color person". Only look good in warm colors? Then you usually select reds, oranges, or yellows. Green is a neutral shade and some colors steer away from their usual temperature. For example, red can be cool if it has purple undertones like say a burgundy and yet it can be quite warm if it has more of an orange cast to it.

Why is all of this important?

Well, if you are a cool color person, you cannot wear true reds or an auburn hair color unfortunately. Ever see a redhead wearing purple clothes? This is an extreme example, yet I think you get the picture. Likewise if you only look good in warm colors, anything violet, blue or possessing a blue cast would be out of the question.

Yes, there IS a lot to consider when you are talking beauty and fashion. However, once you sift through all the determining factors and find what really works best for you, you'll learn to really spot a great haircut or style that would be perfect for you instantaneously. And shopping for clothes and makeup will become much easier and fun!

Spare yourself the heartache of crying yourself to sleep knowing your hair will take forever to grow out from a bad style. Find a stylist who will really, truly listen and who has this knowledge and then some. ALWAYS take pictures with you when you want to make a hairstyle change. Not only will you know both of you are on the same page about your looks, you will reap the rewards of all your homework and knowledge. And feeling better about yourself can only lead to more confidence and a better outlook on life in general.

The Ups and Downs of Beach Weddings

Having a beach wedding can be absolutely idyllic. It also can have certain ups and downs involved in it too. You picture this very beautiful ceremony by the ocean or other body of water. However, you need to think about the special issues that could arise and plan how to handle them. When you know how to deal with anything that can come up you can plan an ideal beach wedding.

Ups

The beach wedding is much more casual dress wise. This means you save a lot in buying your wedding dress and that your bridesmaids and groomsmen save too. Everybody gets to be relaxed and comfortable. The guests love this type of wedding too.

Beach weddings are much less expensive than a traditional wedding. Renting a church or hall can put you in some debt. Anyone planning a wedding likes to economize unless their budget is huge. Traditional weddings run into many thousands of dollars. Why start your marriage off in such debt. Choose the beach instead.

The reception can also be held on the beach. This is especially fun for any of the children that might come to the wedding. They can have fun on the beach while the adults visit. In fact everyone can move around more on the beach than at a regular reception.

Sometimes you need a permit other times you don't need one. If your ceremony only involves a few people than you can just block a small area off to use. If you are having a large affair though then you might need to go to the courthouse or the beach authority for a permit. This is easy to do though just have to check the date to make sure another wedding is not happening in the same place.

Downs

It can be a tad windy at the beach plan accordingly. Maybe there is a location protected by the cliffs from the wind. Also plan any decorations accordingly too. The weather for Melbourne Wedding Ceremonies can be very unpredictable so be sure to liaise with your Melbourne Marriage Celebrant for ideas and suggestions.

The weather could change and rain on your happy day when having it at the beach! You might need to come up with somewhere else as a backup plan. Even your parents' house is a good back up plan if you are having a small ceremony.

There might be some rules at the beach about playing music at night. You will need to check into this and plan accordingly. Also you need to see if the beach allows cooking in case you want to have a cookout for your reception.

Be careful to cover the food so that the birds do not have their fill of it during the ceremony. Seagulls and other birds are common around beaches. So protect the food from an invasion so that your reception will be a hit.

Beach weddings are great though as a long as you remember the ups and downs listed here. Make your plans with these in mind and your Melbourne Beach Wedding Ceremony and the reception will come off without a glitch.

Nutrition Tips For Brides

When you begin planning your wedding, what to eat along the way is probably not in the forefront of your mind. However, your wedding is the one day of your life that you want to look as close to perfect as possible, and maintaining a healthy diet will definitely play a big role in how you look and feel. These are some of the nutrition tips that every bride should incorporate into her pre-wedding routine.

The months before a wedding can be loaded with potential dietary pitfalls. There are engagement parties (around 100 calories per glass of Champagne), bridal showers with cakes and pastries, food tasting sessions with the caterer and baker, bachelorette parties (600 calories in a big frozen margarita!), not to mention meals eaten on the run. If you happen to be a stress eater, too, you can suddenly find your wedding dress getting tighter and tighter at each fitting. So what is a bride to do?

Knowledge is half the battle. Once you become aware of all of the extra calories that are lurking in your celebrations, you can plan ahead. No one is suggesting that an engaged couple should not enjoy their pre-wedding parties, but if you want your dress to fit, a little caution is a good idea. When going to a party, eat a filling dinner first, and stay away from the appetizers, cheese plates, and tiny desserts at the party. It can be easy to eat way too many of those tasty little treats; each one is so small that it can be hard to realize how quickly they add up. If there is no time for dinner, eat a lowfat protein bar or a bowl of yogurt mixed with a high fiber cereal before you hit the party.

Alcohol is the biggest diet killer in more ways than one. First of all, it is loaded with empty calories. Secondly, after a few drinks, it is easy to lose control over your snacking in a way that you would not if sober. If you are at an engagement party with lots of Champagne toasts, remember that etiquette says that the person being toasted should only raise their glass; you do not actually drink to yourself. Once you realize that you don't have to drink along with every toast, you can nurse one or two glasses of Champagne all evening long. As for those wild and crazy bachelorette parties with the margaritas, try a light beer or a glass of white wine instead to cut the calories in each drink down to 100 or less from 600 or so for the big frozen cocktail.

For those brides who like to reward themselves with food, find an alternative indulgence when you are looking for a little pick-me-up. A piece of jewelry from your favorite bridal jewelry set is not going to put weight on your hips like an ice cream sundae. Anything that makes you feel beautiful is good, whether it is bridal jewelry, a makeover, a manicure, or some sexy new lingerie for the honeymoon. Stay away from the kind of treats that you will regret later. Keep your wedding goals in mind to help keep temptation at bay.

And finally, remember to eat a sensible and well balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, protein, and fiber to keep you feeling satisfied. Crash diets are dangerous, and they do not work in the long run. It is much better to get on a good path of healthy eating that will keep you and your new hubby feeling healthy and happy for all the years of your marriage.

A Great Father of the Bride Wedding Speech - Five Key Elements

Your father of the bride wedding speech is not something you should take lightly! Don't wait until the last minute to jot down a few notes on a cocktail napkin. Don't stand up and expect to come up with a compelling, touching, and meaningful speech off the top of your head. Unless you happen to be extremely charming and a master improviser, this method likely won't work.

When planning your father of the bride wedding speech, you need to take several things into consideration:

  1. Remember you are writing and performing in front of an audience on an extremely important and symbolic day. Try to come up with something that will entertain and move your audience, especially your daughter, the bride.
  2. Don't mumble. Avoid "uh's" and "um's" if at all possible. Don't rush through your father of the bride wedding speech, as you will likely trip and stumble over your words. Talk at a natural pace.
  3. Always mention the groom and his parents. Say that you are grateful your daughter has chosen such a gentleman for her husband. Welcome the groom's family into yours with open arms. Express how excited you are to get to know them.
  4. Think back to a special memory that illustrates the strong bond that you and your daughter hold. Make it into a short story with a beginning, middle, and end.
  5. Thank all of the guests for coming, and thank everyone who made the wedding possible. Point out a few people in particular, but avoid spending five minutes spouting off names.

These are just a few of the fundamental elements you must include in your speech. In addition, one of the most important things to remember is to stay calm and relaxed. Enjoy writing your speech, and take your time. When you're speaking, stay calm, relaxed, and confident. Everyone will be able to tell, and your father of the bride wedding speech will be a huge hit!

These are just a few tips I hope you can use in the preparation of your father of bride wedding speech. If you're still feeling worried and unprepared, however, I have just the thing for you. When my own daughter married last year, I was panic-stricken at the thought of speaking in front of all my friends and relatives, and I had a terrible case of writer's block! I thought for sure that my speech was going to be a disaster. Fortunately, though, I stumbled upon an extraordinary resource called Father Bride Speeches that not only helped me conquer my writer's block and write a sincere and crowd-pleasing speech, but it contained lots of helpful tips and advice that allowed me to calm down and approach the mic with courage and confidence. If you are at all in doubt of your ability to write and deliver a stunning father of the bride wedding speech, I highly recommend visiting Father Bride Speeches!

6 Delicious Fall Treats You Can Use As Fall Wedding Favors

If you are a bride holding your nuptials this fall one of things you need to think about is your edible favors. These are gifts of thanks and gratitude you give your guests for coming to your wedding. They are some great treats that they can enjoy either at the wedding or at home. However you might be wondering what would be great items to give that will fit the fall theme for your wedding. The good news is that there are plenty of such items available this season. Here are some of the more popular ones that have come up in past seasons.

The first is popcorn. Popcorn is a common fall treat especially with the corn harvests coming in. The best thing about this treat is that it can be good plain with some salt or you can take it to the next level with caramel and cheddar flavors. An interesting variety I came across was cherry pecan popcorn. It was a healthier version of cracker jacks with dried cherries, pecans, and plain popcorn. This will definitely be a favorite with people who want more healthy snacks.

A perennial favorite is candied apples. You normally see these at fall carnivals but they also make excellent wedding favors. You can even go with different varieties a new twist on this I've seen is chocolate covered candy apples. You also can use other fall fruit like pears for different flavor and texture.

Another staple item would be baked goods. More than any other season you will find all kinds of baked goods being made. You can go with all kinds of different delicious pastries and pies in served in moderate sized container as wedding favors. First off you can go with traditional fall option like cookies or brownies. These are perfect for favors since they are small and easy to package. For something with a fruitier taste, you can go with small fruit pies like apple, cherry, blueberry, or even peach. They will definitely be well received.

For a more fall oriented edible guest gift, go with trail mix. This option is great because you can customize the mix to orient on seasonal nuts like almonds, pecans, walnut, and peanuts. You can also mix in dried fruit like dried cherries, apple, and pears. Use your imagination to provide your guest with something original and delicious.

Another great choice is country samplers. There are baskets or trays with samples of different cheeses, sausages, and preserves. They are not only taste great but can be enjoyed by your guests for weeks to come. This is perfect for a wedding with a rustic or harvest theme. It also is something that your guest can use again and again especially with the preserves which you can enjoy with toast or use in making pastries.

Honey is also a great item to give as an edible favor. It is a natural sweetener and can be enjoyed alone or use as a spread or cooking ingredient in most deserts. The trick with this favor is type and packaging. Purchase honey that comes in rustic containers such as mason jars. Also you can get different types of honey depending from what type of plant the nectar use to make it come from. Try to look for different varieties that might provide unique flavors.

Wedding Hair Styles

The wedding day is a special day in the lives of all women where you fret over the perfect dress, make up and hair style for the occasion. Here are some pointers that have to be kept in mind while choosing the perfect hairstyle for the special occasion.

Most brides make the mistake of loosing their personal identity when making hair and fashion choices for the wedding day. The most important thing to remember is to make sure you like what you choose for the wedding day. The first thing you have to do is discuss your wedding hairstyle with your stylist, perhaps some months prior to the big day. This is because some brides may need to grow their hair or to work towards a new hair color to achieve their perfect wedding hair style. However, just because most of the bridal magazines picture brides with flowing tresses, it doesn't mean you have to emulate this. If you have short hair, you needn't grow your hair for the wedding if you are not up to it. Remember, the bride with a flair for the dramatic with a strong personality carries off pretty much anything.

The most important thing to remember when choosing your wedding hair style is the line, density and texture of your gown. Make the dress match the line of the hair. For example, a bunch of curls piled on top of the head complements a long and slim gown. And if you are wearing a flowing tulle gown, then flowing hair with soft curls is just right. After choosing the right wedding hairs style, try the hairstyle out well in advance to the wedding day. Perhaps the hairstyle will not look as good as you had imagined; you'll then be glad you had found out this before the big day! Then try walking around with this hairstyle for several hours to make sure it's comfortable as you wouldn't want to have hair pins hurting you and ruining your wedding day!

Gift Bags For Children at Weddings

Children can be a delightful addition to weddings. They can also be easily bored, disinterested in fancy adult food, and in need of some fun during a long wedding reception. These ideas for gift bags for children at weddings will help to keep your smallest guests entertained and happy all evening.

Do you remember going to formal adult parties or fancy restaurants with your parents when you were a child? After a while, even the most angelic child loses patience with sitting still and adult conversation. This is why welcoming the youngest guests to your wedding with a bag full of child-sized treats is such a good idea. They may end up having such a great time at your wedding that they will never want the party to end!

For outdoor weddings, there are a number of wonderful ideas for items to include in the welcome bags for the kids. A really neat idea is to let the children have their very own picnic on the grass rather than having to sit still at a fancy table during a lengthy dinner. A few willing older guests, like teenage cousins can be assigned to "picnic duty" to ensure that all goes well. Pack the gift bags with a picnic theme. Include portable foods and drinks like juice boxes and tiny sandwiches. A cute idea would be to include a sticker book with butterfly stickers for the girls and bug stickers for the little boys. Jars of bubbles to blow will help young guests to while away the hours. And if your reception is going to run into the evening hours, include a small plastic jar with a perforated lid for catching fireflies. The children will forget to be bored at all.

Indoor weddings also offer plenty of fun ideas for the childrens' gift bags. Plan on activities which are practical to do when sitting at the dinner table. A package of washable crayons and a coloring book is always a hit with kids. There are some very adorable coloring books with wedding themes available; they are designed as flower girl gifts, but work equally well for gift bags. (Just plan on getting a different gifts for your flower girl, like jewelry.) Sticker books are also a great inclusion. If you know the interests of the particular children invited to your wedding, tailor the stickers to their current obsessions. Otherwise, opt for perennial favorites like trains, princesses, or animals.

A small gift that will delight your little guests are disposable cameras of their very own. Make sure that each one is labeled with the name of the young photographer, so that you can send copies after the wedding. It is such a thrill for kids to receive mail; a card from the newlyweds thanking them for coming to their wedding with copies of the photos the child took would be sure to make their day.

One thing that should definitely be included in the welcome gift bags for the children at your wedding is snacks. The time spent sitting at the table waiting for dinner to arrive can seem interminable to a young child. Help the time pass more pleasantly with small packages of Goldfish crackers and Cheerios for munching. Also consider the ages of the children at your wedding when planning their gift bags. While preschoolers will be content with coloring books and stickers, pre-teens might like something a bit more social like a book of Mad-Libs or a travel checkers game. The time you put into making sure that all of the children at your wedding are occupied and happy will be time well spent!

Wedding Mistakes to Avoid

On Bended Knee Wedding Coordination out of Los Angeles wants to help you avoid these common wedding pitfalls.

10. Don't Rock the Cash Bar - When it comes to alcohol at your reception, what you serve is entirely up to you. Whether you choose to serve a full bar, limited cocktails, Beer and Wine, or no alcohol at all will be based on various factors including budget. The one option that is not recommended is a Cash Bar. Your guests should be gracious enough to accept what is being offered to them. If however a guest feels the need for a drink selection that is not offered, chances are that he or she will be resourceful enough to find it.

Also, request that bartenders not put out tip jars. If you are hosting the bar, tell your catering contact that you are happy to pay gratuity to the bartender(s) but that you do not want your guests to feel obligated to tip.

9. Go flat! A huge number of brides give feedback that they wish they had worn flats, having kicked off their heels during the reception. As a bride you can expect to be standing for 8-12 hours on your wedding day. Be sure to break in your shoes well in advance. Even when wearing flats, unexpected blisters can form after a few hours on your feet.

8. Have a little faith. D.J.'s are perhaps the wedding vendor most micromanaged by couples. Too many song requests may actually impede the flow of your party. You hire your D.J. to judge when to play what music. You wouldn't instruct your Caterer step by step on how to prepare food, or your Photographer on what angles and lenses to use. Limit your D.J. request list to a few favorites and a do-not-play list of only the songs you cannot stand. Do not get carried away and have some trust.

7. Prioritize, prioritize, prioritize. What really matters most to you, the photographer, the music and dancing, the food and wine, the decorations, or being able to accommodate a large guest list? Put your money towards what you care about. You will have regrets if you skimp on what really counts. When you, the Bride and Groom are not footing the bill yourselves however, you may have to forfeit some financial decision-making. If this is the case you will need to compromise on certain priorities or if you really want that pricey photographer offer to pay for one yourself.

6. Bibbity Bobbity Boo. Wedding Dress shops are notorious for having your dress shipped in at the last minute. Think about it, if you owned a Wedding Dress Boutique you wouldn't want every brides dress held at your shop for nine+ months before their weddings. Schedule your first fitting well before your wedding. Your final dress fitting should be no less than 1 week prior to your wedding so that alterations can still be made.

Tuxedo rentals for all attendants must be tried on, that includes Dad. Whether the Tailor seemed to take precise measurements or not, too many men still show up at weddings with high waters or baggy tuxes.

5. Don't hit the road, Jack. Your wedding day is one of the biggest, most important days of your life. You will be exhausted and a bit disorderly the following day. Going away is the last thing you will want to worry about. Wait at least a couple of days before venturing on your honeymoon. Your wits will thank you.

4. Last night of single life. DO NOT hold your Bachelor or Bachelorette party the night before your wedding! This may seem like a no-brainer but many brides and grooms still practice the archaic ritual of drinking all night on that fatal evening. It is simply not worth it, as the Bride/Groom and your attendants will no doubt feel tired, look tired, have a hangover, or worse be sick walking down the aisle. If necessary, request that any out of town attendants arrive a day earlier to help you to prepare and celebrate a different night.

3. No Guidance. With no Director there are too many details left to too many people at your ceremony. Having a Wedding Coordinator allows for one person to coordinate your wedding party processional, music, minister, seating guests and to resolve any unexpected last minute complications. A Coordinator will ease the stress level of everyone, including you, tremendously on your wedding day. So if your location does not include a Wedding Day Coordinator who also directs your rehearsal, hire your own. A Wedding Coordinator may be much more affordable than you think.

2. Stretching yourself too thin. As the bride you will make everyone around you crazy by waiting until the last minute in planning and finalizing details. If you have a hard time planning and prioritizing on your own then get help. You don't want to be remembered as "one of those brides" that put everything off and then expected her friends and family to pick up the pieces, do you?

Do not commit yourself to social events the day before your wedding. This day is meant for you to wrap up loose ends, beautify yourself, attend your rehearsal and rehearsal dinner in many cases, and most importantly get some amount of rest for the day ahead. You are going to need it!

1. High demands. Try to keep in mind that although your Bridesmaids and Groomsmen may offer you extra help, these friends can become taken advantage of. The only "official obligations" of wedding party members are emotional support, the financial expense of wedding attire and travel, participation in the rehearsal and the obvious role on your wedding day. In the case of the MOH or BM, reception toasts are traditional as well. Other help that these individuals may offer should not be viewed as duties, but rather as acts of kindness including: setting up/tearing down, transporting ceremony goods, throwing a bridal shower or other party, distributing gratuities, and any other help that is offered.

Remember to be thoughtful towards your attendants. Bridesmaids may not be comfortable in 4 inch heels, purchasing new jewelry or paying to have their hair or makeup professionally styled. Do not forget to personally thank any bridal party members for taking part in your wedding, as well as family members who gave you assistance. A small thank you gift is always appreciated.

How to Make a Net Veil (Birdcage Style)

Birdcage veils -- sometimes called net or face veils -- have recently become more popular, partially due to movie and celebrity brides wearing them. Most recently, in 2007, Katherine Heigl wore one in her real-life wedding and Jessica Alba's character wore a birdcage veil in the movie Fantastic Four 2: Rise of the Silver Surfer. While it's possible to buy birdcage veils, brides on a budget may prefer to make their own.

This veil is very short -- usually just long enough to frame the face but can also be eye-length -- and typically worn alone, without additional tiers or a separate blusher. You may choose to attach a traditional veil in the back, to a bun or mass of curls. The birdcage is made of coarse-weave French or Russian-style netting rather than typical fine-mesh veil fabrics. Historically, the veil was attached to a hat. The modern bride, however, often prefers to wear her birdcage veil without a hat. Today, most brides attach this short, circular veil directly to their hair with a pin or comb, so that it hangs down around the head. The front serves as a blusher over her face.

Making a Birdcage Veil

Because of the short length and because netting is stiffer than tulle, creating the effect you want when making a birdcage veil can be trickier than when making a regular veil. For this reason, purchase extra netting and plan to make one or two trial runs before the veil is perfect. Also note that the width of the netting will be the length of your veil (from the point where you attach it to your head to the where the veil falls in front of your face).

Materials You Will Need:

- Up to three yards of Russian or French netting.
- Two or more hair clips (the kind used to secure hair extensions to short hair are most stable).
- Sturdy thread the color of the netting (button thread works well).
- Scissors

Step 1: Cut 36" of 9" French / Russian netting

You can make a relatively full birdcage veil, with many gathers, from a yard of netting. These instructions are for making a relatively full, gathered veil similar to Jessica Alba's in Rise of the Silver Surfer. Cut the netting shorter for a veil that lays closer to your head, with fewer gathers. If in doubt, cut the piece long at first. Then shorten it if you find that the veil is too full.

The short, cut ends will be the sides of your veil and the long, finished edges will be the front and back. These instructions explain how to gather the sides and attach them to clips as well as gather the back more loosely than the sides.

Step 2. Sew on two clips, one at each end of the long (finished) edge of veiling.

The clips will go at the front corners of the veil, with the teeth facing the finished edge. The outside, short side of each clip should be parallel to a raw, cut edge. Position them so that, when worn, the clips' metal bars will face outward, but remain under the veiling. The clips should curve against your head when closed.

Step 3. Gather the cut sides of the veil and sew them to the clips.

Using a slipknot, attach thread at the corner of a cut edge opposite a clip. Weave the thread in and out of the diamond patterns along the cut edge between the attached end and the clip then thread it through the hole in the clip.

Pull the thread tight so the entire cut edge is gathered against the clip. Secure to the underside of the clip (the non-bar side, which will be against your head) so the thread will be hidden when you are wearing the veil. You may want to tidy up by clipping off the frayed pieces of netting. One entire side should now be gathered and sewn to a clip.

Repeat on the second side, gathering and sewing the raw edge against the clip.

Step 4. Make the back gathers.

Attach doubled or heavy button thread to the inside edge of a clip. Weave the thread in and out between the diamonds or holes in the netting. Do not secure the thread to the second clip yet. The length of the thread determines how full the gathers and how closely the veil hugs your head. You will want to adjust the length of the thread so the veil looks perfect on you.

Step 5. Experiment with different veil widths.

Looking in a mirror, adjust the thread length between clips. When you are happy with your veil's width and fullness of the gathers, secure the thread by looping it through the inside holes of the second clip and tying it off. With 8" - 9" netting, you will need to attach the veil near the top of your head for it to hit just below the nose. Attach it farther back for a shorter look.

Leave time to practice attaching the veil exactly as you want it, and you will look like a star on your wedding day!

Planning an Inexpensive Wedding Reception

Wedding receptions can be very expensive. Hall rental, refreshments, and entertainment can cost a pretty penny. You want your guests to have a memorable time, but you also want your pocketbook to not take a big hit too. What can you do to save money while still putting on a great reception?

There are ways to cut the costs of your reception, without cutting into the enjoyment of your guests. Just be willing to follow one, or more of the following tips and your reception will be enjoyable without breaking the bank.

Timing: Think about having an afternoon, or late morning reception. Have a buffet or serve appetizers instead of a full, sit down meal.

Food: If you are going to have a sit down meal, do not pick the most expensive items on the menu. Consider chicken or pasta dishes over beef and lobster.

Drinks: If you are going to serve alcohol at your reception there are several ways to cut the cost while still keeping your guests happy. Buy your alcohol from a wholesaler who will take back unopened bottles. Think about having a punch bowl and serving beer and wine instead of hard liquor. Save the champagne for toasting the happy couple.

Open Bar or Not: Having an open bar does not mean it has to be open for the entire reception. Limit the time you serve mixed drinks, then offer wine and beer after that time is up. This can cut your alcohol costs way down, and still give your guests a choice.

Rentals: You can save money by arranging for your own rentals, instead of having a wedding planner handle this. Most wedding planners add on a service fee to their rental costs to cover their time.

Location: Check out local hotels to see if they have a reception deals. Some hotels will give you a discount on your reception hall rental if you book your bridal suite, or reserve a block of rooms for out of town guests.

Home Reception: If the cost of a reception hall is more than you have, perhaps you can have your reception at a friend or family member's house. Consider asking them if you can have your reception at their house.

Number of Guests: When all else fails, one way to cut costs is to limit the number of guests you have at your reception. Do not invite business associates, casual acquaintances, children and spouses of guests if you are really strapped for funds. But be warned, if you invite them to the wedding, they will expect to come to the reception. And not getting an invite for that could cause hard feelings.

A wedding reception does not have to break the bank. Careful planning, and a desire to watch your spending, will go a long way to keeping your reception one to remember.

Top Wedding Dance Music

Wedding dance music will form a large part of your reception and it will take up most of your evening after all the speeches and traditions are out of the way. You will need to enjoy the music that is played and choose songs that everyone loves to get the most people possible on the dance floor.

Choose some songs for every age to even get your grand parents dancing. Golden Oldies are always a hit, even with the younger generation and songs like the Twist or Time Warp will always be danced to and sung along to at any party. Going further back you can choose some songs from Elvis or the Beatles which are also known by the younger generations. Diana Ross the Supremes is fun to dance and sing to, as is the Jackson Five, and the Beach Boys.

Choose some modern dance music, trans, house or hip hop. These get people moving, and if you and your friends are into this kind of music then everyone will have a great time. Just be sure to mix it in with some other types of music to balance everything out. You don't want certain groups of people to be left out and go home early because they are not enjoying the music.

Rock is also fun to dance to and many of the 80's songs will appeal to everyone. Bon Jovi is one of the best bands to play at a wedding and they have cool love songs which are perfect too. There are tons of great songs that will make awesome wedding dance music. You can also go in a different direction and if you are doing a beach wedding, play marimba music or fun Spanish songs by Ricky Martin or Jennifer Lopez to create the right vibe.

Edible Wedding Favors Are Still a Hit!

Wedding favors are among the things that guests look forward to bring home at the end of the wedding. They are little gifts that serve as token of appreciation that will be given to all the guests who attended a nuptial. They come in various types, including edible favors which are meant to delight the wedding guests. Edible wedding favors can be in the form of chocolates, candies, almonds, mints, jams, cookies and other tasty treats.

Jordan almonds are probably the most popular edible favors given during weddings. They are often grouped together, wrapped in tulle and and closed using ribbons. Each finished almond package will be placed on each table setting. Up to now, Jordan almonds are still a wonderful favor option for a wedding that desires to keep the traditions alive.

When searching for edible wedding favors, the options are plenty. Some couples may even have some troubles selecting what edible treats would be best for them. Actually, choosing what is right doesn't need to be head-spinning. All the couple will need is to find something that reflects what common between them. For example, if they usually go out for a coffee, then they could possibly come out with wedding coffee favors. Coffee favors usually come in packs, which are customized with printed names or monograms of a couple, together with the wedding date and a personal message. Aside from coffee, couples may also opt for tea, hot cocoa, cappuccino, and cocktail mixes as well. These consumable wedding favors are available in beautiful packages, with different designs to complement any type of wedding.

Edible wedding favors can sometimes become a money-saving option, especially for couples who have tight budget. Couples can save money on edible favors by simply doing the souvenirs themselves. Making homemade wedding souvenirs are actually pretty easy, especially brides and grooms who are good at baking cookies or making jams. They can even make their own wine favors, or re-make chocolates or re-pack candies.

A couple can be very creative and inventive when it comes to their edible wedding favors. For example, they may give out strawberries covered with chocolates, cookies with creative icing topping, or fortune cookies. Cookie favors can be shaped using cookie cutters. Most cookie favors come in shapes to resemble a real wedding cake or bride and groom.

Edible wedding favors can make unique wedding favors. Choices may include personalized chocolate bars wrapped in custom-made wrappers, personalized jams with custom-labels, cupcakes in personalized favor boxes and many more. Unique favor ideas can further be personalized with printed names or monograms, wedding date, and a heart-felt message from the couple. Personalizing the items can either be for free or for a minimal charge. The Internet is a huge source of information when it comes to planning a wedding. There are plenty of websites that offer various wedding supplies and essential accessories, including wedding favors. Most online stores also cater personalized needs for couples who wants to personalized their wedding.

Minimalist Wedding Style

Sometimes it really is true that less is more. If you are a bride who favors simplicity, this could be the theme of your wedding. There are many great ways to design a wedding with a minimalist style.

The first thing to consider is location. If you prefer the minimalist look, then you will want to seek a wedding venue that fits with your aesthetics. Fancy cathedrals, castles, and opulent hotels will not be able to give you the sleek, modern look. Instead look for spaces that have clean lines and good bones, but not a lot of ornamentation. Some sites to consider are city lofts, modern art museums, and alternative galleries.

The trickiest part about designing a minimalist wedding is to make sure that it looks intentional. You want your space to look perfectly appointed, as opposed to looking unfinished. You almost have to choose each detail more carefully than you would if you were designing a wedding with a more lush style. When there are fewer elements, each one needs to hit the right note so that the whole effect is harmonious.

An easy way to coordinate your wedding is by choosing a signature color or colors to use. If you are trying for a minimalist look, either choose a muted color like espresso as your main hue, or go for one bold color like true red. Pair these colors with something crisp like white or subtle like cream. Avoid any colors that are overly feminine, such as pink, peach, or lilac. They are too difficult to use in a modern and streamlined way.

One of the other elements that really helps to create a tone for the wedding is the bride's ensemble. You will want to choose a dress that echoes the minimalist atmosphere of the venue; a frilly gown would look totally out of place in an urban loft. Look for a bridal gown with clean lines and few details. A beautiful silk charmeuse dress would be an ideal choice for a bride who likes garments that are close to the body. If you are more comfortable in a less clingy style, choose a simple A-line gown in a great fabric like silk mikado. When the fabric is high quality and the gown is well cut, you do not need embellishments on it.

To give your ensemble a polished look, the right accessories are key. Even when you are going for a minimalist effect, you will still want to have a few special pieces to finish off your attire. Crystal bridal jewelry is a great option, because you can achieve a cool and icy look with a very simple necklace or earrings. One beautiful crystal sparkling around your neck would be perfect. You can also look for bridal jewelry earrings created from crystal. A very chic look is a pair of long drop earrings with a very simple wedding gown.

When designing a minimalist wedding, look for centerpieces that adhere to your theme. One source of inspiration can be Asian design. The pared down look of a few branches with cherry blossoms or even tiny Bonsai trees on the tables would look very simple and elegant. Another idea is to use flowers like calla lilies, which are wonderfully streamlined.

A minimalist wedding should be low on frills and ornamentation, but high on style. If you carefully choose each element of your wedding design, you are sure to achieve a breathtaking effect.

Bridal Shower Games: Make The Next One You Host A Big Hit

When you host a bridal shower, you really want to focus on making the event special for the future bride. However, you also want to make it fun and exciting for those attending. Here are some quick and easy bridal shower games you can use that won't cost you a fortune:

1. The Bridal Trivia Game: This will take some preparation, but is an inexpensive and fun game to show how much those invited truly know about the future bride. You can make it part observational, like what color shoes the future bride is wearing today, to "about the bride" questions, like where was the future bride born. You can even hold two separate trivia games and your bridal shower games will be completely covered. The person answering the most questions correctly will be the winner.

2. The "ABC" Game: All you need for this bridal shower game is a sheet of paper with the alphabet listed down the left hand side. Next to each item, party goers need to write something that starts with that letter that deals with a wedding. "A" could stand for a wedding "A"lbum. "B" could be a "B"ridal shower. "C" could represent the wedding "C"ake. Set the time limit for the game at only a minute. The person getting the most items listed in that time will be the winner.

3. A Bridal Scramble or Word Find: Using your computer, you can make up a bridal scramble or word find for a bridal shower game. For the scramble, you would take words associated with a wedding, like wedding gown, tuxedo, rings, church, reception hall, flower girls, ring bearer, and mix all the letters up. Those playing would have to unscramble the words into their appropriate form. For the word find, you could take similar words and hide them within a huge square of letters. The first person to unscramble all the words or find all the words will be the winner.

Little prizes are great for bridal shower games. Items like picture frames or candle holders can be decorated with little bows and ribbons for a special little gift.

Beyond the Traditional in Men's Wedding Rings

It wasn't too long ago that the selection of wedding rings for men in jewelry stores was limited to gold and platinum wedding bands. But now, the selection of men's wedding rings is just as varied as those for women.

The reason behind this big switch is demand. These days more and more men are looking for something different and want more than a traditional wedding band. If you'd like more than the usual plain wedding band, then take a look through this information about what is now available for men. You may find exactly the alternative you'll really like.

One of the major - and most interesting changes - is in the type of metal you can choose for your wedding band. You're no longer limited to gold and platinum as the only choices for wedding rings. New popular choices include tungsten, two-toned gold, stainless steel, and titanium wedding bands.

A tungsten wedding band is a good choice for a wedding ring because of its durability and quality. Tungsten, which is unalloyed, is unlikely to cause allergic reactions. But more importantly, wedding rings made of tungsten won't tarnish, are difficult to scratch, and have a natural shine to them.

So you just can't decide between gold and platinum? Then maybe a two-toned gold wedding band is the answer! A wedding ring that features different metals with opposite properties appeals to men who are interested in a wedding band that looks good at both work and play. This type of wedding band is usually relatively inexpensive. Interestingly, stainless steel has made a return to the jewelry industry. Like tungsten, stainless steel is highly durable and offers a handsome wedding band for a man wanting a stylish wedding band but without frills and an expensive price tag.

The new best seller in men's wedding jewelry is titanium. Why? The reason titanium has become so popular with men is style. Hammered titanium wedding rings are particularly popular with men because they have a rugged masculine look. Some men opting not to wear a wedding band do so because they feel like wearing jewelry is sort of feminine. But take a look at some of the black titanium wedding bands and you'll see why they are a big hit with men. Its color is an attention getter for sure, especially when combined with a diamond or other metal, such as gold.

With all the new styles of wedding band available to men, bridal sets are becoming even more popular. This can be a great choice for couples that want to share the same wedding ring style. Another reason a couple may decide on a bridal set is because wedding rings are typically less expensive when purchased in a set. Then the only problem is for the couple to agree on a single style they both like.

Unique Wedding Theme - Your Hollywood Wedding

Let's think for a minute, what is your all time favorite movie as a couple? What movie really shines out in your mind when you think of a film that features the life of a couple? Some ideas, in case that spark hasn't quite hit you yet: Bonnie and Clyde, Brad and Janet (Rocky Horror Picture Show), Tarzan and Jane, Pretty Woman, Sandy and Danny (Grease), and Lucy and Ricky (I Love Lucy). I'm sure there are many others that you can think of, but let's focus on these, and hopefully they will bring inspiration for you on your wedding day.

Let's start off with a little criminal side as we picture Bonnie and Clyde. Playing this theme up at your wedding would work wonderfully, having all the guests being part of the mob and the happy couple as our featured couple: Bonnie and Clyde. Each one of our featured couples can be the star attraction in a special setting, and Bonnie and Clyde may be featured in a warehouse, or some other similar place.

Brad and Janet. Now this is a completely new twist to how a wedding may be portrayed. If you take into consideration the matter of the film, and the exotic wardrobe that is pictured during most of the film, it may be hard to pin point which particular part you may want for your wedding. Either way, this one would be a fun one if your men are not afraid to wear a few women's undergarments.

Tarzan and Jane would be an entertaining wedding theme featuring a jungle. The groom will have to be incredibly comfortable with himself to sport the limited amount of fabric that he will be wearing in his loincloth. Jane can be pictured in one of two ways, either as the explorer she starts out to be, or the jungle queen she later becomes. The guests can all partake by dressing in animal patterns (saving money by not dressing as the whole animal).

Sandy and Danny and the whole Grease gang. This is an amazing wedding theme if you are looking for something that is not only retro, but also has good theme music to for dancing at your wedding. Conservative, and fully clothed, this may be for the couple that is looking to have fun, but in a neater manner.

And finally, let's not forget our "I Love Lucy" theme, a good one for those that love the show. It may also require a bit of dressing up, which can also be fun for the couple and the guests. The guests can dress as people from the time period 50' and 60's and it will be relatively inexpensive. The best part is both Lucy and Ricky can have their maid of honor/best man be Fred and Ethel.

Whichever movie film or sitcom you choose, all the couples are perfect, and entertaining. And the best thing is, each film has its own unique theme that can be brought you're your wedding. Have fun!

Wedding Centerpiece Ideas - 8 Unique Alternatives to Traditional Wedding Flowers

So you're not a froofy floral arrangement kind of girl - that doesn't mean you can't still have a wedding décor scheme that wows. Think outside the proverbial flower box with this list of blossom free wedding centerpiece ideas:

Love Visually

Build a structure consisting of a bunch of different ornate frames with photos of not only you and your fiancé, but also parents and grandparents whose marriages serve as inspiration for time-tested love.

The Food Pyramid

Fill cylindrical glass vases with fruits and vegetables reflecting your colors. Oranges, lemons, and limes have been done, so try a unique, more contemporary look with mangos or coconuts - or tie it to the season with texture-rich earthy vegetables like husked corn, acorn squash, or artichokes.

Outside Looking In

Give your guests something to really look at with goldfish swimming in aesthetically shaped vases. Consider building interesting mantels or use other species like Siamese fighting fish or white clouds. For their sake, add the water and fish right before the reception and return them to a bigger tank before the party's over.

Au Natural

Consult Mother Nature for inspiration, and bring the outdoors in. Natural objects like stones, leaves, pine cones, even twigs can add an organic aesthetic to your reception décor. Place in rustic containers or scatter amongst pillar candles for added ambiance.

A Library Look

Stacks of books intricately piled can work in a number of different ways. For sophisticates, choose antique leather-bounds. For a more fun approach, use kitschy romance novels. Or, tie it to your wedding location - if beach-side, go with maritime classics like Moby Dick and The Old Man and the Sea.

Wine-O

Wine bottles and decanters create interesting focal pieces. Turn a wine bottle into a "lamp" by filling it with candle oil and adding a wick. Decorate the base of the bottle with bunches of grapes.

Lighten Up

Floating candles in a shallow bowl adds light and elegance to your tabletops. Or arrange multi-level candles on a mosaic of mirrors or tiles, and surround them with seashells or flower petals. Placing coffee beans or red hot candies at the bottom of a vase or bowl to hold the candles steady also adds an aromatic effect.

Consult your Inner Child

For the kid at heart, fill decorative bowls with your favorite candies - such as jellybeans and M&M's - in your wedding colors. These centerpieces are sure to be a hit with your guests!

Traditional Mexican Weddings

Every culture has its own way of celebrating big events, and when it comes to marriage old traditions play a very important role. Mexican weddings are not very different to other types of weddings around the world, but it is interesting to see how Mexicans celebrate it in their own Latin-oriented style, which derives from strong religious beliefs.

Mexican tradition states that the family of the groom will ask the family of the bride for her hand. Some families are really strict and do not give permission to the girl to meet other men. If the boy's family is not into the old tradition of approaching the girl, the groom to be will still meet the girl's family and ask respectfully for her hand.

In general, brides and grooms are catered by their godparents (or padrinos) who will take care of the engagement all the way through and will still play the role after the marriage takes place. The bride and groom can decide who the godparents will be, making the chosen ones feel very respected and honored. The role of the padrinos is to guide the boy and girl throughout the engagement and give them marital advice. Usually it is the older (and therefore wiser) people who will be asked to play this role.

During the wedding reception, the guests gather together in the form of a "heart" around the married couple while they dance. A pinata is hung at the reception venue which is usually filled with all sorts of candy. It is the job of the children to hit it until it breaks open and the candy falls; the guests then pick the sweets from the ground and celebrate.

In a typical Mexican wedding, you will often see the bride wearing a veil (called mantilla) and looking rather Spanish with a flamenco-like dress. Grooms usually wear a toreador type of outfit which fits the theme perfectly well, depicting the famous bullfighter costume.

When it comes to the reception food, we will expect to find the finest Mexican dishes based on corn flour, rice and different types of meat. A popular drink would be sangria, which consists of wine (usually red) mixed with fruit juice, soda, lots of different fruit cut into pieces and added sugar. It is also a festive drink very popular in Spain. The music played in Mexican weddings are of Latin style; salsa, merengue, bachata, boleros, etc.

If you have the opportunity to attend a Mexican wedding try not to miss it. You will see the amount of work that is put into the celebration as well as being able to enjoy the strong familial bond amongst the members and the grandeur of the big wedding day.

By using rolls of toilet paper, teams of guests can create lovely original gowns that rival costly couture creations!

If you are including both the bride and the groom in your shower, be sure to have teams create male clothing that is appropriate for such formal situations as a wedding. Also, be sure to include the bridal party in the outfit creation-they are sure to feel better about their current bridal wear instead of the toilet paper potential. If flower girls, junior bridesmaids, or ring bearers are present, include the pint sized party members in this super game.

These would include the bride, groom, bridesmaids, maid of honor, best man, ushers, junior bridesmaids, ring bearer, or flower girl. Give each team the appropriate design materials so that they can create a fabulous outfit for this Bridal Shower Game. You may want to include feather dusters, toilet paper, crepe paper, balloons, or any other materials you can think of in the designing of your bridal wear.

When designing the formal wear for this Bridal Shower Game, instruct pairs or teams to include accessories like veils, hats, baskets, corsages, or bouquets. Once all of these flowers have been made, incorporate them into the traditional rehearsal bouquet made for the bride. This Bridal Games is sure to be remembered by all participants.

To complete this super Bridal Shower Game, time each team or pair of designers and limit their design tools. Once the timer sounds, all teams should stop and begin to showcase their outfit. Consider having each wearer model their outfits in a high spirited fashion show. Elect each member of the team to give a commentary on their design.

During the fashion show, provide guests with pen and paper and encourage them to vote on their favorites. If you have many models, create different categories, such as scandalous, sweet, or stunning. Also include categories like best use of toilet paper and most creative. Once everyone has voted on their favorite creations, reward the winning team with special prizes.

Before individuals disrobe from their stunning toilet paper creations, be sure to document each design with a photograph before the outfit is destroyed. This Bridal Shower Game is sure to be a hit with every guest, no matter what their age! Everyone is sure to remember this fun and unique game, so be sure to include it when you are planning for your wedding shower.

Indian Wedding Favor Suggestions

Arranging an Indian wedding? Or is your bride or groom of an Indian lineage? During weddings, giving wedding favors are also customary in the Indian culture. Same with the general concept, wedding favors in Indian weddings are meant to express gratitude and appreciation for the time and blessings of the guests to the new couple. As much as they have made the wedding memorable, the couple also would want their guests to leave and have a token of appreciation for the time spent with them.

Here are some suggestions for traditional Indian wedding favors:

- Spice packets - These unique and flavorful spices are common in Indian cuisine.

- Incense gift box - This gift set is meant to bring harmony and peace in households. Your guests will know that you mean well with the gift of harmony.

- Honey jars - This sweet edible favor is also a common gift favor in India.

- Other favors are: Sandalwood fan, beaded jewelry box, silver coins, or dried fruits.

- Elephant shaped soap and candles - The elephant is an important image used in so many occasions, symbolisms and in religious celebrations. Have soaps or candles elephant-shaped and this is a fool-proof wedding favor.

- Bracelets - Indian women love to accessorize. Similar in Bollywood where women wear a number of bracelets or necklaces, and even elaborate headdresses, their love for such accessories will make your bracelet favors a hit. Make it as elaborate or as decorated as possible to ensure that your female guests will like them.

Other traditional favors, that while they may not be local to India in nature, they are popular and generally accepted as well. Such favors are: coasters, candle holder and Jordan almonds.

As for packaging, you can use organza bags to make them more presentable and you will seem to have really spent a lot of time preparing them.

If you do not have an Indian community in your area, you can buy Indian wedding favors online. Make sure your budget includes the shipping and other applicable taxes. If you are in the US, many US sites offer Indian favors as well so no need to shop internationally. Also make sure that the delivery date can be met.

By being culturally-sensitive to these items, you are sure to please all of your guests on your special day. Make sure that Indian customs, traditions, and wedding etiquette are also followed so that you will not seem culturally insensitive and also make sure that you don't disrespect any traditions or Indian values. With Indian wedding favors, your Indian wedding celebration will be complete.

Creating a Party With the Best Wedding Songs

Choosing the right wedding songs can make or break a wedding, especially if the guests are big on dancing. Choosing the wrong kind of music can sideline your guests, which is not the best way to throw a good wedding. So, if you want to have a great wedding complimented by fantastic music, take a look at these tips.

Something Sweet

Now, most brides and grooms go through the traditional dances. These dances include the bride and groom's first dance, the father/daughter dance and the mother/groom dance. If your wedding is in the evening around dinner time, it's a good idea to feed your guest before starting these songs. Once everyone has their food, the bride and groom can dance. This gives the guests something to do while they're eating and it prevents them from getting antsy during the dances.

The couple's first dance should be to a slow song they love. There are literally hundreds of popular first dance wedding songs. Dozens of Web sites have advice for which song to play during a first dance. Weddingapproved.com is a good site to visit for a long list of songs. Some popular first dance songs include "Nothing Compares to You," by Sinead O'Conner, "I Can't Help Falling in Love with You," by Elvis and "A Moment Like This," by Kelly Clarkston.

For these three dances you should choose songs that are no longer than four minutes. This is enough time for the couple to dance, but it's short enough to keep the guests engaged.

Getting Sassy

Once the formal couple and parent dances are finished, it's time to open the floor to your guests. The wedding songs you have lined up for the dancing portion of the wedding are critical to the evening's entertainment. You need to pick a variety of songs that hit all age groups. If you play all of the latest hip hop hits at a wedding that also includes older people, you're going to lose the older folks.

Timeless songs such as "Pretty Woman," by Roy Orbison, "Brown Eyed Girl," by Van Morrison and "Mustang Sally," by Wilson Pickett. Of course you can mix newer songs such as "In the Club," by 50 Cent in with these classics. When you're choosing wedding songs, make sure to consider you're audience. If there are kids at the wedding, you shouldn't choose wedding songs that include a lot of graphic lyrics.
