Wedding Invitations Secrets

Planning a wedding is a daunting task, but with the help of professionals it can be an enjoyable experience. When looking for invitations you may become overwhelmed with all the styles that there are to choose from. How do you choose? Well first you need to decide what the feel of your wedding will be.

Very traditional, black tie, modern, funky, some kind of theme, or anything else you want. Hopefully by the time that you are looking for invitations you have chosen a color scheme or theme for you wedding. It is not imperative that your invitations match your colors, but it should reflect the type of affair that you will have. If you have no clue what type of invitations you want, fear not. You can go to any store that sells invitations and just look through the books.

There should be a person there that will take you through the books and answer any questions. Now there are a few different methods to get your invitations, you can order them through a company like Cranes, you can design and put them together yourself or you can buy a pre-made invite and print them yourself or take them to a printer. The best bet is to start researching online, but before you order I would go to a store and feel the stock.

There is nothing worse then getting your invitations and having them feel like toilet paper. So, my first tip when starting your search for wedding invitations is to look online and check into the styles that you want then hit the streets and go out and feel those invitations. When you look at the samples in the books it gives you a sense of what the invite will really look like.

Tips For Planning a Successful Destination Wedding

A beach wedding can be a beautiful alternative to a traditional wedding. For many couples, getting married under the open, blue sky surrounded by sand and surf is more appealing and potentially more affordable than mainstream wedding traditions.

Keep these tips in mind when planning a beach / destination wedding:

1) Chose a location that's close to or connected with a resort or hotel.

Beach weddings do require some setup so it's best to pick a location that's close to a resort or hotel that offers these services. A remote beach in the middle of nowhere may sound romantic, but if you're suddenly hit by bad weather, a guest becomes ill, or you need something you forgot to bring - having a hotel nearby can be the difference between a minor inconvenience and a major issue.

2) Book at least a year in advance.

Unless you're planning an extremely small wedding - and you get lucky with booking availability - it's best to book your destination wedding at least a year in advance. Popular beaches and resorts fill up extremely quickly and are often booked close to capacity long before your planned wedding date. Booking well in advance also gives your guests the opportunity to save for the trip and shop for items they plan on bringing with them.

3) Remember your guests when booking.

It's a good idea to book a block of rooms, preferably all located on the same floor or area of a hotel or resort. This ensures that there's rooms reserved for everyone and everyone stays in the same, general area.

4) Chose your time of day wisely.

Try to arrange a morning or early evening wedding ceremony. This will ensure that the sun is not directly overhead or high on the horizon, which can be extremely uncomfortable for you and your guests. This is particularly important if your not accustomed to tropical sun which can be alot more intense and potentially dangerous than the intensity of the sun where you live.

5) Keep your guests comfortable.

If you're renting a tent, consider having fans installed and cold drinks circulated to ensure that your guests stay cool and refreshed. Having small paper fans or even hand-held battery-powered fans is worth considering. These could even be personalized and be the favour from your wedding.

6) Keep your guests safe.

Consider making bug spray and sun screen readily available at the location. This is especially important for guests with lighter skin tones who may react adversely to harsh, tropical sun. If your ceremony is more than 15-20 minutes in length, go out of your way to advise your guests to apply sunscreen ahead of time. Applying sunscreen after is bad sunburn is too little too late!

7) Be aware of the local regulations.

Some destination locations require you to purchase a permit or license to hold a beach wedding. Be aware of this when planning your wedding. It's a good idea to hire a wedding planner who's familiar with the culture and traditions of your location to avoid any unforeseen headaches. Additionally, make sure you have all required documentation in order to obtain a valid marriage license.

8) Can you hear me now?

Consider having a sound system installed to pick up and broadcast your voices to your guests. If your day happens to be windy, your guests may not be able to hear the ceremony or the exchange of your vows.

9) Oh! What a relief it is!

Make sure that washroom facilities are relatively close to your location. If you happen to choose an out of the way spot, consider renting portable washrooms if available.

10) Brides - wear appropriate footwear.

You may look stunning in high heels, but high heels are extremely awkward on sand! Ensure you chose appropriate footwear for a beach wedding.

11) Don't forget a photographer!

What good is a romantic, destination wedding if you don't have stunning photographs to remember your day? Local photographers may not deliver the quality you expect. Many couples bring an established, professional photographer with them to ensure their wedding memories are preserved and presented in a style that moves them. Consider finding a photographer you love and booking them for your destination wedding.

Wedding Checklist - Wedding Party Favors

Your wedding day is approaching and included to your wedding checklist are different task and responsibilities to be properly done. Wedding is perhaps one of the most memorable moment for couple's lives, thus proper planning and preparation matters most. Literally, planning and preparing for a wedding isn't easy as one-two-three. One of perhaps minor items included in any wedding checklist are wedding party favors. Although they can be very minor, but the fact that giving favors during weddings is one of marriage tradition and until now is widely recognized.

Party favors come in wide variety of selection to choose from, you can find these items usually at local bridal gift shops and even at online stores. Manufacturers of these items made variety of option according to different wedding themes. Weddings like beach themed, travel themed, formal and non-formal themed weddings have their own appropriate favors. Example, for beach themed weddings, party favor choices could be something that are related to beach-like atmosphere. You may consider favors that include beach sand, stone, seashells and the like. Or perhaps, if your wedding fall in other season, a winter wedding for instance, you can find winter themed favors also like Snowflake Bottle Stopper, Snowflake Gel Candle, Snowflake Place Card Holder, "Snow Fall" Exquisite Glass Photo Coaster and more. For fall weddings, consider a Fall Leaf Tea Light Place Card Holder or Fall Leaf Cookie Cutter Wedding Favor.

Wedding party favors are accessories that can make a big difference to your wedding. They were given to simply show deep appreciation to all the attendees and participants during the said celebration. Though they aren't mandatory, but the fact that they can make a thoughtful remembrance for your guests is enough reason to definitely include them in your checklist. These favors however can be presented also during pre-wedding parties such as bridal shower party and bachelor's party. Also, the idea of choosing appropriate favor is important to not just accentuate the party but also to commemorate the celebration.

Popular kind of wedding favors today are those that were custom-made. These options are ideal in today's fashionable weddings for they can be very stylish to jazz up any wedding themes. The choices for custom-made favors are plenty, from simple to exquisite. You can find custom-made choices like personalized favors, a sure hit not only during wedding but also for other occasions and gatherings. Elegant Wedding Favor - Find What You're Looking For

If you are looking for an elegant wedding favor for your upcoming wedding then you have come to the right place. Your wedding should be an upscale and enjoyable event so you need to treat it like such. An elegant wedding favor can be the difference between if your wedding is remembered fondly or with malice. Here are some things to look for when purchasing an elegant wedding favor:

Candles have always been an elegant wedding favor for people to give to loving and caring wedding guests. There are many to choose from as well. The heart shaped ones are very lovely and can be spread across the table for all of your guests to enjoy. They are kept in a frosted glass holder and can be taken home with each guest or lit right there on the table while everybody eats their delicious meals of veal or chicken. You can also choose to have small portable candles available for your guests that have flown in from out of town. These are small enough to keep in a small piece of luggage and can travel the entire world with your own personalized message on them. These personalized labels could include the names of the bride and groom as well as the date of the actual wedding day.

You can find that placing a photo of you and your loved one can make a very elegant wedding favor. It doesn't matter if it is placed in a frame or on a keychain; these are loved by every guest. Why? This is because now they have something to remember your wedding day by for the rest of their lives as well as yours. You could also decide to put an image of the loving couple onto a tin of breath mints. These mints will hit the spot for your guests who now have bad breath from all the delicious food. Not only are the mints good to eat, but there is a picture of the bride and groom on them as well as a special message or the wedding date.

As you can see, an elegant wedding favor doesn't have to be hard to find or cost you an arm and a leg. They are in abundant supply and are as elegant as you are willing to pay. Remember that this is your wedding and you want people to remember it fondly. What better way to do that except by handing out elegant wedding favors?

Where to Find a Cinderella Wedding Dress

Disney princesses are cultural icons that have been with many of us since childhood: Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, and others have inspired girls for years. So it's natural that some women look to those princesses and their dresses as inspiration for their own "happily ever afters." Those princess dresses can be hard to find, though- where should you look?

Bridal designer Kristie Kelly has come out with a whole line of Disney-inspired wedding, bridesmaid, and flower girl dresses (which you can find at disneybridal.com), including, of course, Cinderella. These are not strict recreations of the dresses from the movies, but rather inspired by the character herself. Ariel's dress, for example, fits close to the body but then flares out at the bottom of the legs, reminiscent of a mermaid's fin. Brides.com also has a selection of "princess" dresses to choose from. They all feature the fitted bodices and elegant tulle skirts we remember from our favorite ball gowns. You can choose from a whole gallery of romantic pastels, as well as the traditional white.

If you decide to order your Cinderella dress online, be careful. The big disadvantage to buying any article of clothing online-from jeans to your wedding dress to anything in between-is that you can't try it on before you buy it. Get your measurements, and don't fudge them-a moment of vanity now is worthless when you get your dress and find out you can't comfortably get into it. Do some research on the designer before you make your final purchase, to see how their sizes run: mostly right, a bit big, a lot small, whatever, so you can also take that into consideration.

You can also sidestep the whole "bridal" theme and instead find a ball gown, if you want to go for the generic princess "look" instead of finding the specific Cinderella dress. If you go this route, you might have more options by avoiding bridal websites in favor of ones geared towards proms and formals, or just generic "gowns." The same goes for searching offline: hit up the formal stores just as much as the bridal ones. There are also companies out there who rent high-end formal wear: think charity balls and the Oscars. You can wade through their selection to find something you like, even if you end up purchasing it elsewhere-many of these companies have purchasing options available. You can also try your luck in higher-end vintage shops and see if you can uncover any vintage treasures. A lot of dresses from yesteryear fit the bill to be the perfect Cinderella princess dress today.

Bridal Shower Gift Ideas

You've been invited to the bridal shower - what fun! You already have a wonderful wedding gift, but you aren't sure about bridal shower gift ideas. The first rule of thumb is that a bridal shower gift is generally a bit more personal; that is, it focuses on the bride rather than the couple. So think in terms of her likes and dislikes as well as the theme of the party.

Many times you can get your best bridal shower gift ideas simply by reading the invitation closely. Will they be "showering" her with gifts for her honeymoon trip? Then think about where she's going and what she's like. If they're skiing in Colorado, you have a head start. Think about a luxurious cashmere scarf, snuggly slippers, or perhaps a wonderful bottle of schnapps and two crystal glasses for in front of the lodge's fire in the evenings!

Is it a kitchen shower? Think about her favorite types of food and go from there. If she likes baking, a basket of the little necessities is nice - extracts and flavored oils, measuring spoons, muffin tins, and a pastry brush for instance.

Anything personal is always nice, since in the coming weeks the bride will be rushing about like mad. Giving a gift of relaxation is a sure-fire hit. A pedicure and manicure gift certificate, a massage or day at the spa are all wonderful gestures.

Is the bride practical? Put together a great little "everything basket" to keep by her phone or on her desk that has all those things you can never find when you need them: A few nice pens, clear nail polish, postage stamps, a small bottle of her favorite perfume, a nail file, a change purse with a few bills and some change, a notepad, a small screwdriver, tape, and anything else you usually need at a moment's notice and can't find! Tuck in some decadent chocolates for emergency fuel and you're set!

Wedding Cakes - Celebrity Favorites For a Fraction of the Price

Celebrity weddings that are featured in the bridal magazines include photos of cakes that go up as high as $25 per slice. (Can you imagine having a wedding with 200 guests and spending $5000 just on the cake? That's twice as much as I spent on my ENTIRE wedding six years ago!) If you love sweets like I do and also desire something unique to not only "wow" your guests' appetites but that will be a showpiece in the wedding pictures, consider these trends for 2010 that you can adapt to fit your budget:

1) If you have an heirloom china set or an antique gown from your grandmother, have the cake designer create a mini-cake with the elaborate lace or etched details created out of fondant.. Place the mini-cake on an antique cake stand to elevate it for the pictures and then have the bakery prepare a large sheet cake with a simple filling and frosting that is cut up and served in the kitchen. (You can even have Costco make the large sheet cakes, or a few of them, depending on the number of guests you'll be serving. They have delicious cakes and at bargain prices!)

2) Cupcakes are all the rage these days, so why not ask the Food Network junkie friend or family member to bake up several batches of cupcakes as your wedding gift? You can have a few dozen of the traditional favorites like chocolate with white frosting and red velvet with cream cheese frosting, and then go crazy with the cupcakes that will be displayed on a tiered-tray for the presentation at the cake table.

3) Check out a local culinary school and hire the students training in the dessert field to create your cake in exchange for a donate to the school or perhaps for a nominal fee you pay to the students directly.

4) If you are a pie lover why not order several pies in various flavors from a place like Marie Callender's? A few times a year they offer pies for $6 each, so you could serve everyone of your guests for as little as.75 per slice!

5) Consider specialty pastries as your wedding dessert. The restaurant where we had our wedding/reception was known for their Grand Marnier Tart, so the chef created two giant hearts coming together that served our 50 guests. He used all fresh seasonal berries to garnish the giant tart, baked it in a chocolate pastry crust, and we served it with an inexpensive champagne. I think they charged us $50 for the dessert and it was the hit of the reception.

My mouth is now watering for something sweet! Bon appetit and happy cake/pie/tart tasting for your upcoming wedding!

Theme Wedding Ideas

Theme weddings are the latest trend to have hit new age bride and grooms who wish to undertake any form of adventure or extravagance in order to make that one day in their life the most memorable of all. Moreover, the availability of wedding planners has made it easier for these couples. Once appointed, the wedding planners undertake the duty of organizing the wedding ceremony and reception and taking care of every minute detail. Some of the popular forms of theme weddings include beach theme weddings, Hawaiian weddings, Black and White weddings, and Mardi Gras weddings.

Beach weddings are in vogue all over the world. The very idea of solemnizing the wedding amidst the cradle of nature with sea waves and the blue sky as witnesses indeed sounds romantic and mesmerizing. A beach wedding ceremony is often intricately decorated by beautiful floral arrangements adorned with sea shells. Mountain top weddings are equally appealing to brides and grooms at present.

Hawaiian weddings refer to the Hawaiian theme which is chosen as the theme for the wedding ceremony. This is mentioned in the wedding invitations as well and the guests are expected to be dressed in traditional Hawaiian costumes and even the bride and groom can also be dressed in similar outfits if they desire. After the wedding ceremony has been completed, the guests are served traditional Hawaiian cuisine and the whole ambience of the wedding reception has a predominantly Hawaiian feel to it. Of course, Hawaiian themed weddings can be held anywhere, not just in Hawaii.

Mardi Gras weddings refer to inclusion of the spirit and flavor native to the region of New Orleans. Such weddings are characterized by vibrant and colorful outfits and can be accessorized with beads and junk jewelry and masks. These weddings are high on festive spirit and after the conclusion of the wedding ceremony, the cuisine characteristic to this area is served to the guests.

Theme weddings are extravagant and at times seem a bit outrageous too. But, it is an equally exciting endeavor for the couple and while it may sound extreme to many, theme weddings are wonderful ways to add spice to the monotony of a 'usual' wedding ceremony.

Wedding on a Budget

A wedding is one of the most important things in a person's life. The proposal is made, accepted and the date is set. Suddenly one is hit with questions regarding the place, the dress, the flowers, the invitations, the reception, and most of all THE COST.

It is beautiful to see, in various magazines and on television, weddings that cost thousands and thousands of dollars. Unfortunately, everyone does not have that kind of money. This does not mean that those with limited funds cannot have something just as beautiful on 'their day.'

To begin with one must make a list, starting with the most important aspect; the total amount available to spend. Once that is established one can proceed. Let's say the budget is $1200.00 (it can be less). There is no desire to elope to Nevada for a "quickie" wedding which will leave none of the beautiful memories one wishes to have for the rest of their lives.

In breaking down to the bare essentials (and yet retaining elegance) following are suggestions for making this the highlight of your life.

o Wedding location (consider the following locations)
o The family yard. Question - is it large enough? Would it be possible to put up an arbor and decorate it? This would require renting chairs for guests. Cost: Depending on cost of chair rentals.
o Church. Question - do you have a family church? Cost: Ascertain what the cost is. If too much revert to the previous alternative, if possible or ask a family friend if you can use their yard. Above all, check around.
o Local Hall. Cost: Varies, so it pays to check around.

o Minister. Cost: Some ministers charge a certain amount, others accept a donation. This should be worked out ahead of time. If you don't have a regular minister, use the phone book and ask.

o Wedding Dress. Question - is it really important to have an expensive dress that costs hundreds of dollars to wear one day? Cost: Depends on you. Suggestions:
o Goodwill and many thrift stores have beautiful gowns, worn once, price $50- $100.
o Re-sale shops - price varies but very reasonable.
o Craig's list on the internet - some are even given away for free if you're upfront about your need.

o Flowers. Cost: Can be zero if you raid your parents and friends homes. Some decorate with artificial flowers, available at the dollar store for $1.00 per bouquet. Lots of vines can be used to add to the decorations as well as paper streamers. The bride's bouquet can be put together by a talented friend or can be made rather inexpensively at a retail store flower department.

o Invitations. Cost: Can be inexpensive if you design your own or check the internet for ideas and then have them copied at an office supply store. These can be printed on special paper and look very elegant. Many people today are also printing their own using vellum paper you can get at Wal-Mart.

o Reception. Cost: This is where you can call on your family and friends. Decide on the menu and then assign each a portion to prepare. You should provide any drinks, but it will be cheaper if you don't include alcohol. You will no doubt have the cost of renting tables if held at home. If renting a hall or using a church there should be an area for this purpose. If having the wedding at home then a portion of the yard can be set up and work very nicely.

o Cake. Cost: Anyone watching the internet cooking contests can see how beautifully cakes can be made. If there is anyone in your family or a friend who is talented in this area now is the time to enlist their help. A wedding cake from the bakery can cost over $100 but, again, shop around.

o Music. Cost: If you know someone who plays and/or sings it is a plus. A small gratuity is usually given if it is not a close friend. A disc player can always be used and operated by a friend, as well. Speakers go a long way to making a radio sound big and are often available at the thrift stores for almost nothing.

It is hoped this article has been of assistance for your wedding on a budget and best wishes for a beautiful and happy marriage.

Wedding Flower Tips For the Bride

One of my favorite parts of a wedding is the flowers. I love seeing the arrangements, bouquets, boutonnieres and the centerpieces. Although that is one of my favorite things to see at a wedding, it also proves to be one of the hardest items you have to decide on and put together for the wedding. Whether you go with fresh flowers or silk flowers they both have there advantages and there disadvantages.

Fresh Flowers: Good news first! One of the best things about having fresh flowers for your wedding is that they photograph beautifully, they have a richness that is captured by the camera and they are breath taking beautiful. Most fresh flowers smell wonderful. The scent of fresh flowers is a very welcoming scent for all of your guests to enjoy as they walk in to either your ceremony or reception. This is only good news to the brides who do not want to keep their bouquets. If you use fresh flowers they will not last so you will not be able to keep your bouquets, unless you preserve them which can be very costly.

If you are a bride who is budget conscious and would like to stay under your budget and do not mind a few extra steps then there is another option for you! Buy your flowers in bulk. This is a way to save you a lot of money, however remember when your flowers arrive; they are only good for about 48-56 hours, if refrigerated correctly. To refrigerate properly, fresh flowers cannot be in the same refrigerator as food especially fruit and they cannot touch the sides of the refrigerator walls, so you must cover them. You can use a trash bag to cover the petals. You want to cover them with something very light so they can still breathe, but that will also provide enough coverage so that the blooms do not have direct contact with the walls. And don't forget them in water. They have to be kept in fresh water with flower food. Although this may sound painful to deal with, it's really not as bad as it sounds. When you order in bulk they provide flower food. All you need is enough vases or good size buckets to hold all the flowers, not to mention a clean refrigerator or two. For those of you who want to save your bouquet of fresh flowers, there is a way. Fresh flower preservation is becoming quite a hit, however it can be expensive, but from the reviews I have read, extremely worth it. Read up on it by searching on the Internet, search on Flower Preservation.

Silk Flowers: Starting with our good news again, silk flowers are less to maintain. Less maintenance is an awesome benefit for the easy-going brides who do not really have to have real flowers. Also for those who just do not want the hassle, for those who are allergic to fresh flowers or for the ones who want to keep they're bouquet without paying for the pricey preservation job. Another wonderful plus for our brides and bridesmaids who are allergic to fresh flowers, silk flowers do not have any scent at all which means no one has to deal with red eyes, hives, or any allergic reactions that could happen. Some florists do work with silk flowers, and silk are easier to work with, most of the time. Talk to your florist and get her advice on which she prefers, look at her sample pictures because those will provide wonderful examples of what she is capable of doing for you and it also helps you get a better idea of her style so we can avoid any surprises the day of the wedding.

On the down side, silk flowers do not photograph quite as nice as fresh, however they come close if you use higher end silk flowers. If you choose to go with silk flowers do yourself a favor and purchase higher end silk flowers and then put the bouquets together yourself. It is not hard at all and it will save you money in the end. This is also a fun way to get your bridesmaids and lady family members together for some "girl time". Putting flowers together is so much more fun in good company. With a few friends to help you'll be done with the arrangements in no time.

How To Cut The Wedding Guest List Without Cutting Your Throat

It is always difficult to make out a guest list for a wedding. It can be a very emotionally draining task and you always worry whether or not you forgot someone. Deciding who to invite to your wedding and who to strike from the list is easier if you break the list down into manageable sections. Next, set clear goals and guidelines to make the work of deciding who to keep and who to cut easier. Follow the tips we have assembled here to help you achieve your goal amicably.

The first thing you need to do to get started is make a master list of anyone and everyone you would like to invite to share the most important day of your life with you. Begin with people that absolutely must be invited like the immediate families on both sides, close friends, and friends from the past whom you stay in touch with regularly. You should also include co-workers if they are close to you. The next step is to list people that were good friends but haven't been in contact lately. Put the lists together and count what you have so far. Another thing I would suggest as a way to keep the peace and as a show of respect is to have your parents and future in-laws make a list of people they would like to be at the wedding.

Now you have a good idea of the total possible guests which can be a bit overwhelming when you first look at it. Now unless you are getting married outdoors and there is no limit to how many people you can have you are going to probably have to reduce the list. You also have to consider the economics of a large list, the more people that attend the wedding the more expensive it will be.

Now comes the step that you have been dreading, cutting the list down to a manageable size. As soon as you start looking over the list you will undoubtedly see names of people you do not recognize at all. More than likely these are the ones that were wanted by the parents and in-laws. Double check with them and unless they say that they definitely want that person there, cut them. Next, take out distant relatives that you more than likely don't even remember as well as friends you haven't seen in a long time. If you have coworkers that you have no association with away from work then remove them as well.

All of this trimming of the fat should be done with the help of your fiance'. You don't want to hurt their feelings or the feelings of anyone close to them. Don't feel like you have to invite someone just because you attended their wedding. The paring of the guest list isn't the most fun thing to do but if you follow these tips it should be easier.
